Six canoes arrived carrying 60 people in authentic costumes.




July 24, 2001 - Detroit's 300th Birthday Celebration - Karen and I went downtown to see the reenactment of Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac's founding of the city on July 24, 1701.

Cadillac, in the white coat, was played by Montreal museum curator Guy Vadeboncoeur.

























Part of the celebration included the dedication of a bronze statue of Cadillac, presented by the French-American Chamber of Commerce. But the heat was so oppressive, we decided to watch it on the evening news.
