Q. 2 - Is the school still open?
A. The school remained open, but not always as St. Anthony High School. In 1969, East Catholic High School moved  into the building from St. Catherine's former building where it was formed in 1967 from the consolidation of St. Catherine, St. Charles, Annunciation and St. Rose. East Catholic closed its doors for the last time around 2004.

Thanks, John Fisher ('67), for setting the record straight on the origin of East Catholic. Here are links from John to some additional EC info, including those early years at St. Catherine:

A couple of EC yearbooks (all 100+ pages):

This website shows Football (individual games) & Basketball (playoff type stuff - and you'll need to scroll down to see it).  It shows the team name as the Chargers, the correct team name at that time was the Green Berets.

Q. 3 - How about the Church, Convent and Grade School?
A. The Convent and Grade School are gone, but St. Anthony Parish celebrated its 143rd anniversary in 2000. The church has been declared a Michigan Historic Site. Read about it.

St. Anthony Parish, St. Rose of Lima and Annunciation/Our Lady of Sorrows Parish merged in June 2006 to form Good Shepherd parish. A letter from Fr. Michael, the pastor of St. Anthony, stated that the faith community of St. Anthony would be relocating to the former Annunciation/OLS site, located at 1265 Parkview, Detroit - off East Jefferson. Fr. Michael has been appointed pastor of the new parish. Although the Alumni & Friends dinner dances are no longer being held, Fr. Michael invited grads and former parishioners to join the St. Anthony Feast Day activities at Good Shepherd Parish. The first event at the new location was held on June 10, 2007.

Updated 1/7/16 - Good Shepherd Parish and Our Lady Queen of Heaven Parish officially merge, as of January 11, 2016. Our Lady Queen of Heaven remains as the Parish church and Good Shepherd Church assumes the status of an Oratory, i.e., a structure other than a parish church, set aside by ecclesiastical authority for prayer and the celebration of Mass.

Q. 4 - Who sponsored the Annual Dinner Dances?
A. The St. Anthony Alumni & Friends Dinner Dances were sponsored by St. Anthony Parish as a fund raiser. They were held in February each year beginning in 1992 and later moved to October. The Parish encouraged grads from St. Anthony and East Catholic to use the occasion for their school reunions. Tables were arranged so that an entire class was seated together. Ad and Ticket Forms were available on this site as soon as the Parish office made them available. Although the Dinner Dances are no longer held, the tradition of inviting grads and former parishioners to attend the St. Anthony Feast Day activities continues at Good Shepherd Parish, 1265 Parkview. This event is usually held on the second Sunday of June, the Sunday closest to St. Anthony's Feast Day (June 13).

Q. 5 - What are the words to the Teuton fight song?
A.

Come on and cheer for St. Anthony
Show everyone how loyal we can be,
Let out a RAH, RAH, RAH
A SIS BOOM BAH,
Cheer for those boys to win this game,
For come on let all of us cheer
For our Alma Mater so dear
For S-T-A-N-T-H-O-N-Y
Cheer for those boys in red and white
For they are eager to go in there
No matter what the odds may be

Q. 6 - What are the words to "Mother Beloved?"
A.

Join your hands, loyal bands
While we pledge one another
Unity and fealty
to our Queen and our Mother.

One our Faith, one our Love;
One our Leader and Lord.
One our Aim, one our Hope above
One united accord.

Mother Beloved of God and of man,
Here at your feet, faithful we meet,
Comrades of Mary, redeemed by your Son,
Keep us who love you in all things one.
